Solar Power Oven

We wanted to make a solar oven to cook chocolate buttons on a cracker.

First we made a solar oven by using a box, tin foil, black paper and glad wrap. tinfoil on the top and bottom, with glad wrap at the top too, then at the bottom we put the black paper on the bottom tinfoil.

Next we put the cracker and chocolate buttons in the box by the window and this is the use for everything: glad wrap to keep bugs, etc out, black paper to absorb heat, the tinfoil to reflect heat, and that’s all!.

After the third break we saw the chocolate had melted but it looked the same, it might sound like a weird combo (crackers and chocolate buttons) but it was so good the chocolate buttons was melted and just went good with original crackers.

I learnt that black paper absorbs heat and that tinfoil reflects heat!

Have you ever tried to make a solar powered oven?.

Japanese Calligraphy

Every Monday some people chose to learn about Japanese culture and today we learnt how to do our names in Japanese calligraphy, but instead of expensive ink we used paint, then we used a pencil to practice writing our name before using paint, and after we started painting. we had to put on these jerseys so we don’t get paint on our uniforms, then once we finished we let them dry and learnt how to ask/answer how are you/genki desu ka then we had to answer with what we’re feeling to go to break, I said “Genki ski desu/im good”.

Do you know any words in Japanese?

EPro8 Rowing Machine

The Sun and Carbon snake Experiment

Today in Inquiry we were learning about the Sun. Me and the rest of the year 6’s did an experiment to model how the sun produces energy. We used sand, isopropyl alcohol and powder sugar then we used paper and a lighter to light it on fire. When the sugar started to heat up it started to become glass like.  The sugar burnt which and the heat released energy, pushing out like worms. This was similar  to what the sun does, producing energy when it burns. We did the experiment with Whaea Liz, it looked like a burnt marshmallow.

Lego Team Challenge Term 1

I did Lego with my friends because it was CRT and we had 5 minutes to build Lego’s, we had two rounds of Lego we built a small car then a dinosaur and we finished pretty much both of them, I enjoyed playing with Lego and just putting everything together, the only picture I got was of the Dino, I found the Dino kinda challenging it looked confusing but once you got most of it done it was easy.
